The humans ruined everything.
For as far back as history can tell, Asraela has always been ruled by the Fitzroy family. The magical beings remember a time before the humans came to Asraela, though. Before humans, Asraela lived without government, sharing the land between each race. There was no prejudice. Whatever hatred existed was solely between certain families. Guardians and mages, the most powerful of the magical beings, were responsible for taking care of this world.
And then the humans came. The magical beings took pity on them, knowing they were at a huge disadvantage without magic. But the humans introduced true government to the Asraelians, and established a monarchy. Magical beings were not allowed to be a part of the monarchy -- it wasn’t ‘in their blood’. The Fitzroys have been in power ever since, and only recently has life gotten worse. King Charles Fitzroy and his manipulative Queen are tyrannical. The smallest crimes are punished with execution, and anyone who speaks against the nobles is promptly thrown into a jail cell!
The nobles use the Misfits as a scapegoat. With attention on the most blasphemous of Asraela’s races, no one pays much mind to the actions of the nobles. Some Asraelians agree with the nobles and turn a blind eye or are too frightened to disagree, but others know better. Others remember a time when the humans were dependent upon the magical beings, not the other way around.
But in this world, who will actually take a stand to do anything? Will you fight for power, or will you actually fight for justice?
